I took those
photos last year for the graduation ceremonies in University of Adelaide. It
was for the year book purpose that I could get a chance to stay in the Bonython
hall for 2 days to capture those precious moments. It was my pre-graduation
experience, I guess.
I had a lot
went through my mind after taking those photos. And I posted an article abount
my experience at this graduation ceremony( my personal feelings and photographs
I took, also attached a piano tune). on the most popular social media in China -"renren.com".
"Renren.com" is literally a
"on-campus network, I would say it's similar to facebook, almost every students in China have
a "renren" account.
Out of my
expectation(and a bit flattered) , my Chinese article was shared by thousands
of Chinese international students in Australia, and over hundreds of them
commented on it. Some of the graduated students was quite emotionally attached
with my photographs and words, it brought them back to the most memorable day
of their life. The most meaningful rewards for years of hard working. The place
where they met their friends, lovers, co-works and carved irreplaceable experiences. The place
that offered them so much knowledge and laid the crucial foundations for their
future.
When I was
taking photo on that day, I saw smiles and tears, especially for the
international students. The self-fulfilment of achievements , the family came
for them to share the happiness. the bitter feeling about leaving university(
schoolmates, teachers ext). Most of the international students might decided to
move back to their countries of origin after the graduation, which means the
tearful goodbye to Adelaide, to friends.....every little path that they had
walked through during the years in Adelaide. It is understandable how much
those three or five years mean to them. Some could hardly spoke English and
became fluent in it after 3 years. Some spoiled ones could or would never cook
a meal, are able to make a table of nice cuisines. Some were so treasonous,
realised how much they were beloved by their families.
It took me a
long time to put all the photos together. I think I will update this post again
later, like how I did with the Chinese one. However, I will upload the photos
first.
I hope you
enjoy, the photos talks more than what I say;)
